emem obot (1996) aka Cunty MeMe is a multi-disciplinary artist, model, and activist born in Brooklyn, NY raised on the south side of Chicago. As a poet, singer/songwriter/ pianist, they create cunty, loud, and arrogant art to empower themselves and anyone who resonates.

emem is a classically trained pianist since the age of 5 and a classically trained singer since the age 12 participating in their school choir as well as the Chicago Children’s Choir at the age of 14. They have sung with the likes of Ricardo Muti, Yo-Yo Ma, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Al Green, and more as a member of the elite concert choir. Musical expression and taste is influenced heavily Afro-Beat, jazz, hip-hop, and R&B/Soul. They have been a featured artist at Love Jones Open Mic, Nubian Hueman Ode to Sunday Open Mic, and UMD’s Truth2Power: A Queer Open Mic in 2018. They are currently an artist and outreach coordinator within AMETHYST, a collaborative focusing on bringing visibility to BIPOC womxn/ femme artists in the music industry. emem featured on the cover of Haitian DJ, Michael Brun’s hit single “BAYO” with photography shot by Haitian photographer and artist, Steven Baboun. They also participated in Limitless African and Infinite Essence by world renowned photographer, Mikael Owunna.

emem is an alum of American University with a Bachelors of the Arts in International Studies. They are currently based in Havana, Cuba & Chicago working with hip-hop and graffiti artists with hopes of continuing the legacy of relationships between radical Cuban and Afrikan artists, activists, visionaries.
